Founded in Turku in 1640 and relocated to Helsinki in 1828, the
University of Helsinki is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The University of Helsinki is the most versatile research university in Finland, with teaching based on top research. There are around 35,500 degree students and 3,800 teachers and researchers. The university is divided in eleven faculties, including Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry with more than 2700 students, of which 400 are at PhD level.
Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry promotes sustainable use of natural resources and human wellbeing through scientific research and teaching. Our values are biodiversity, human wellbeing and ethicality. The faculty provides a unique combination of food, agriculture, forestry and environmental sciences. Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry consists of 9 departments and is located on the modern multidisciplinary Viikki campus, together with three other faculties. The Viikki campus is one of the four campuses of the University of Helsinki and one of the largest concentrations of biosciences in the world.
